Getting Started

How do I scan a document?

Open the app and tap the Scan button. Point your camera at the document — automatic edge detection frames it and corrects perspective. Capture additional pages for a multi-page document, then save. You can also import an existing photo or PDF from Photos or Files.

How does the AI extraction work?

On eligible iPhones, on-device AI reads each scan and pulls out the vendor, total, currency, and date, then sorts it into a category (Receipt, Contract, ID, Medical, Tax). Long documents also get a short summary. Every extracted field stays editable — tap to correct anything before you save.

Can I reorder or retake pages?

Yes. Before saving, you can crop, retake, and reorder pages. After saving, open the document to add, remove, or rearrange pages at any time.

Organizing & Exporting

What export formats are supported?

Free users can export to TXT. Premium unlocks PDF, CSV, and image export. You can share any export through the iOS share sheet — Messages, Mail, AirDrop, Files, and more.

How do expense reports work?

Filter your scans by category, folder, or date range and Dossier totals them up — for example, "What did I spend at pharmacies this month?" You can export the report as a PDF or CSV. Expense reports are a Premium feature.

Can I search inside my documents?

Yes. Full-text search runs across every scan, including text recognized by OCR, so you can find a document by a word printed inside it — not just by its title.

Do I need an internet connection?

No. Scanning, OCR, AI extraction, categorizing, and summaries all run entirely on your device — even on a plane or with no signal.

Accuracy

The extracted total or date is wrong. What do I do?

OCR and AI extraction can make mistakes, especially with faded receipts, handwriting, or unusual layouts. Every field is editable — just tap it and correct it. Always verify extracted values before relying on them for expenses or taxes.

Recognition is poor on a document. Any tips?

Scan in even, bright light, lay the document flat, and fill the frame. Avoid glare and shadows. Higher contrast between text and background gives the best OCR results.

Free vs Premium

What's free vs Premium?

Free: 10 scans per month, automatic document categorizing, full-text search, and TXT export, with banner and interstitial ads. Premium: Unlimited scans, AI extraction / categorizing / summaries, export to PDF / CSV / image, unlimited custom folders, expense reports, and zero ads.

Is there a free trial?

Yes — the Premium Annual plan ($49.99/year) includes a 7-day free trial. You'll only be charged at the end of the trial. Cancel anytime in your Apple ID subscription settings before the trial ends.

How do I restore my purchase?

Open Settings inside the App and tap "Restore Purchases". This re-applies your active subscription if you've previously purchased one on this Apple ID.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Open the iOS Settings app, tap your name at the top, then tap Subscriptions. Find Dossier and tap Cancel Subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.

Privacy

Where do my documents go?

They stay on your iPhone. The App does not upload your scans, PDFs, or extracted data to any server. Everything — scanning, OCR, and AI — runs on-device. You can confirm by toggling Airplane Mode; it all still works. See the Privacy Policy for full details.

What permissions does the app need?

Camera (only when you scan), Photo Library read-only (only for items you import), and Notifications (optional, for completion alerts).
